Welcome to my colorful world. I am a happy (most of the time!) wife, mom, artist, and art teacher. I love to create, cook, nest, decorate, entertain family and friends, laugh, collect vintage stuff, snuggle my cat and dog, play outdoors, watch movies with girlfriends, and so much more! In addition to all this, I also publish an online magazine with my dear friend, called Mermaids of the Lake. Oh, and I love a big cup of coffee with cream, a dry martini, red wine, blingy jewelry, pink lipstick, blue fingernail polish. I love color! Beautiful colors inspire, motivate, and move me!!! What's my favorite color? I can't choose. I love them all! Yellow, pink, red, turquoise, blue, purple, orange, green and every variation in between!
Thank you, Veterans - with respect, honor, and gratitude.
United States Veterans, thank you for your service. For everything you have sacrificed and endured in the name of freedom, I am eternally grateful. Thank you to your families, also. May God bless you in every way.

My view is always pretty, even when its gray and drab or stormy. I'm incredibly grateful. However, last week the view was exceptional - three days in a row! We've been having record amounts of rain for the month of October and we had one day last week of sunny skies and no rain.
Wednesday: Just look at it!!!! These photos are early morning, just after sunrise. There is still a mist and fog on the lake. The sky was such a bright blue and the clouds were fluffy and soooo white!
I threw open the back door and started taking pictures with such excitement. I mean, look at those colors! I felt like I had stepped into the middle of a Maxfield Parrish painting!
It was so beautiful, I never wanted that day to end!
Finally, I went upstairs to my little studio to work and this is the scene from my desk. Aww... the colors and beauty were both inspiring and distracting.
Thursday: Thursday was so rainy and windy and gray and drab that I didn't take any pictures during the day, However, that evening, around sunset, as we were watching our favorite football team on TV (GO GREENBAY!) I noticed that the sky was turning an odd sort of yellow. Then a pink glow...
And quite suddenly, a huge, brilliant double rainbow appeared!
I ran outside to get these photos. It was so huge, that from my place on the porch, I could not capture all of it.
The clouds behind the hills across the lake were lit up and glowing. As the rainbow started to fade, the sky turned all kinds of pink, blue, and purple!
Friday Morning: Friday was more of a classic, foggy, misty, October Day-
with hints of gray, brown, yellow and orange.
It rained all day.
Friday Evening: More fog and low clouds. The air smelled crisp with hints of wet leaves and a campfire - so peaceful.
It is our attitude at the beginning of a difficult task which,
more than anything else, will affect its successful outcome.
When I was a teenager my dad used to say, "Deborah Lynn, adjust your attitude!" Boy, did I get tired of hearing that! Ha! Dad was right though, and as I grew up a bit I soon realized that my attitude was one thing in life that I did, indeed have control of. This way of thinking has served me well. As I look back on my life now, realizing that I have lived for 30-some years with a chronic illness, (and didn't really know it) I know that a positive attitude and my Faith in God has helped me to have a good quality of life and lots of JOY, despite physical pain, exhaustion, and confusion due to illness and to regular life stuff! Plus, my attitude right now- today is one of HOPE and FAITH in a full recovery and healing! Yay for a positive attitude!
