Welcome To My Colorful World!

Welcome to my colorful world. I am a happy (most of the time!) wife, mom, MeMaw, artist, and art teacher. I am a follower of Jesus Christ. I also love to create, cook, nest, decorate, entertain family and friends, laugh, collect vintage stuff, snuggle my cats and dog, play outdoors, and so much more! In addition to all this, I also publish an online magazine with my dear friend, called Mermaids of the Lake. Oh, and I love a big cup of coffee with cream, a dry martini, red wine, blingy jewelry, pink lipstick, blue fingernail polish. I love color! Beautiful colors inspire, motivate, and move me!!! What's my favorite color? I can't choose. I love them all! Yellow, pink, red, turquoise, blue, purple, orange, green and every variation in between!

My Art

I love to create! Creating feeds my soul! Do you know what I mean?

Hand Painted, Mod Martini Glasses

Of all the different mediums I use in my creations,
one of my favorites continues to be painting on glass.
I love the way the glass paints are sheer and vibrant.
I love the way the light shines through them.
I also really enjoy painting on objects
with interesting shapes, such as wine glasses,
water goblets, pitchers, large bowls, teapots,
and especially, martini glasses!
They are both elegant and whimsical.

 DIY Scripture Cube
 From a Face Cream Box
My very favorite way to create continues to be
making something beautiful out of something
otherwise destined for the garbage or recycling bin.
It feels so darn good! It's both challenging and thrifty,
which appeals to me on so many levels.

Make a Bracelet From a
Yoplait Yogurt Container
Another super fun project to make something beautiful
and even wearable out of garbage!!!
I love this stuff! See how I did it here.

Snowman Glassware
I paint glassware.
I love the way this paint
looks on glass.
Snowmen, while a super simple pattern,
 have proven to be
my most popular item to sell.

Painted Tea Pots
Painting on glassware is one of my favorite ways to create. I love the shape of teapots. They just say whimsical to me. This one was begging for owls - hot pink and orange owls!
I decorate the inside of the lid too.
Here's the other side!

  1. Hey Debbie,

I needed you today. More then I have needed any other person in a long time and I don't even know you as in we have never met. But, I feel like I know you.

Your love of life and Art is exactly where I need to be. I was diagnosed with a crippling disease not long ago and my creative self as well as my happy self have disappeared. I have been existing, not living.

Then at one of my lowest points today.....I seen your Color My Bliss page on Pinterest.

You are the one I believe who was meant in that one instant to turn my world right side up and creatively speaking, back on track.

So, thank you, so very much. Even though you don't know me as in having never met, you have managed to change my entire direction with your positive energy, love of life and love of Art.

    Huge HUGS and Forever Thanks.
    Dayna :)

  2. Dayna, thank you.... for in you taking the time to leave me this message, you too are exactly what I needed today, right this very minute your comment is an answer to my prayer.

I am so very sorry that you are living with a crippling disease. I feel such compassion and empathy for you. I know, as I have been living with an autoimmune disease that is trying very hard to take away my joy. I know that I am fighting a spiritual battle that affects me physically, and that with God, loads of love, (for myself and others, from myself and others) tons of gratitude, positive energy, and time creating, I have HOPE! My wish is that you do too. Please know that even though we don't know each other, I will be praying for you.

Creating feeds my soul, and lifts my spirit. It is something I must do. When I fall into that awful hole of depression, self pity, and sickness, I loose my zest and my desire to create, but I have learned that when I create I feel closest to God and to the love and hope that he provides. I begin to heal. When I am grateful and have a cheerful heart, I begin to heal. My prayer is that I could somehow inspire others to do the same and so you can see why this note from you is extra special to me.

Keep creating, Dayna and loving yourself to a place of healing. I will be too. :)
