Because this is a summer program, designed for kids who are mostly there for childcare, my students range in age from 2 1/2 to 5 years! The age-range does present a challenge. Because the classes are a mix of these ages, I must choose projects that all the children can do. The youngest kids may need a little extra help, but overall, they do great! You'd be amazed at what they can do!
Almost, if not all of these projects would be fun and really amazing for older children too!!!
Abstract Art, Line Drawing Necklaces
with Shrinky Dinks
This was a fun and easy project. It would be great for all ages. With my group of preschoolers I just have to take care of the tracing, cutting, and of course, the shrinking in my toaster oven. Get instructions here
Handprint Owls
Children always seem to love projects with owls in them! These Handprint Owls were no exception. The parents loved them too because they were cute, creative, and a fun keepsake. Those little hands don't stay little for very long! See how we made them here.
Coffee Filter Snails
This is a fun, colorful and fairly easy art project for children of all ages. My preschoolers loved it! See how here.
Lollipop Flowers
This was such a fun project. My group of twenty preschool artists, ranging in age from not-yet-three to five all had great success and enjoyed the process. And, I love it when that happens and the end result is also something beautiful. See how tiny artists made these beautiful, colorful Lollipop flowers!
DIY Mixed-Media Collage Boxes
This was a super fun, sometimes messy, adventurous project for my group of mostly four-year-old children. Each step in the process was different and fully-enjoyed! I am THRILLED with the final results!!! Learn how we created them here.
