Welcome To My Colorful World!

Welcome to my colorful world. I am a happy (most of the time!) wife, mom, MeMaw, artist, and art teacher. I am a follower of Jesus Christ. I also love to create, cook, nest, decorate, entertain family and friends, laugh, collect vintage stuff, snuggle my cats and dog, play outdoors, and so much more! In addition to all this, I also publish an online magazine with my dear friend, called Mermaids of the Lake. Oh, and I love a big cup of coffee with cream, a dry martini, red wine, blingy jewelry, pink lipstick, blue fingernail polish. I love color! Beautiful colors inspire, motivate, and move me!!! What's my favorite color? I can't choose. I love them all! Yellow, pink, red, turquoise, blue, purple, orange, green and every variation in between!

Homemade Mod Podge
I love to use official Mod Podge. It works great, but it is quite
expensive and for some projects, such as children's art,
this homemade one works great, as well!

DIY Scripture Cubes, a Great Way
to Create Beauty out of Garbage
My very favorite way to create continues to be
making something beautiful
 out of something otherwise destined
for the garbage or recycling bin.
It feels so darn good! It's both challenging and thrifty,
which appeals to me on so many levels.
These Scripture Cubes are fun
to make and inspiring too!

Re-Make Grandma's Chandelier

After!!! I Love it!
I inherited my Grandma's beloved chandelier and I am incredibly grateful and happy about it! Grandma loved her chandelier for a number of reasons. It was especially beautiful and elegant for the era in which it came from! The 1970's was certainly not a time of crystal chandeliers; more likely a big pendant lamp in the shape of a "harvest gold" colored mushroom!I brought her chandelier home and was disappointed to see that it really was in bad shape; dusty, tarnished, and a few crystals missing. And, it really didn't look as pretty in my dining room as it did in hers. Knowing that Grandma was my original role model for crafting and creating, I knew exactly what to do! PAINT it!!!! Grandma would approve!!!! Here's What I Did!

Vintage Lamp - Lampshade Re-Do

I have been redoing my art studio/mermaid's publishing office. I inherited this sweet lamp when my sweet grandma passed a couple of years ago. I love it so much and it reminds me of her. I bought this plain little shade and... ugh... it is plain and too short. So I dug into my hat box full of vintage lace and hankies and I love how it turned out. It only took about 10 minutes too! Oh, how I love projects that make this much of a difference and only take 10 minutes!

Much Better! I Love it!
See how I did it on Mermaids of the Lake Blog.
